Warrensburg, MO – Americans for Prosperity-Missouri, the state’s leading advocate for fiscal responsibility earned media coverage on NBC KOMU Channel 8 for opposing President Obama’s economic policies during the President’s visit to Warrensburg.
AFP – Missouri’s Rachel Payton appeared on the KOMU’s evening news where she highlighted AFP’s activities surrounding President Obama’s visit to Warrensburg.
“So we (AFP – MO) came out here to the train station to set up a tent and give people the opportunity to come by and sign it,” said Rachel Payton with the Missouri Chapter of Americans for Prosperity. “They’re also signing the petition online and in the last 24 hours we’ve had about 500 people sign the petition saying no to the affordable care act here in Missouri.”
Over the course of the day, over 900 petitions urging the repeal of ObamaCare were signed through AFP – MO’s activities at the rally and through an aggressive social media effort.

Rachel Payton of AFP – Missouri said, “We were overwhelmed, but not surprised by the number of Missourians who are vehemently opposed President Obama’s healthcare takeover. The Missouri taxpayers have made it very clear they are opposed to Obamacare. Missourians first rejected this healthcare takeover in the voting booth in 2010 and again in 2012 by rejecting the expansion of health insurance exchanges.”
Missouri business leaders have also expressed great concern over the mandates Obamacare places on them. The Affordable Health Care Law would require small companies throughout Missouri to pay for healthcare coverage or receive a penalty of $3,000 per year.
“I think we are starting to see the tip of the iceberg when it comes to job cuts and reduced employee hours due to Obamacare. This, on top of all the other federal, state and local regulations, is making it increasingly difficult for many Missouri small businesses to stay competitive in the marketplace.” Patrick Werner, State Director, Americans for Prosperity.
