AFP to Gov. Dayton: Stop Abusing Taxpayer Dollars
AMERICANS FOR PROSPERITY CALLS ON GOVERNOR MARK DAYTON TO STOP ABUSING TAXPAYER DOLLARS
MINNEAPOLIS – Today, Americans for Prosperity-Minnesota, the state’s leading advocate for economic freedom and prosperity, called on Governor Mark Dayton to stop abusing taxpayer dollars in his effort to reward big labor allies through state contracts.
“The wake of the Legislative Subcommittee on Employee Relations vote to reject state employee contracts exemplifies Governor Dayton’s allegiances to big labor allies, giving enormous pay increases of 9% to public-sector employees that already far outpaces private sector wages,” said John Cooney, Minnesota State Director of Americans for Prosperity.
“Governor Dayton must be held responsible for how he spends hardworking Minnesotans money. It is incomprehensible that lawmakers continue to give handouts to special interests in a struggling economy.
“The simple truth is, Governor Dayton’s actions highlight the extreme lengths he will go to enrich his big labor allies at a time when the average wage of state government workers comes to $55,822 compared to their private sector counterparts who earn $45,260 on average.
“Minnesotans deserve better. It’s time for the Governor to start working for the benefit of all Minnesotans and stop playing games with taxpayer dollars.”
