AFP Foundation-Minnesota just released its yearly economic competitiveness booklet: Keeping Minnesota Competitive: Prosperity in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. This booklet analyses the economic state of Minnesota and the prosperity of its citizens using important statistics such as population growth and gross domestic product (GDP), private sector job growth, business tax climate, and state spending and debt. Did You Know?

• Minnesota state spending has increased by more than 600% since
1960, after accounting for inflation. During the same time frame,
Minnesota’s debt grew by 473%, after inflation.

• From 2000 to 2010, Minnesota’s population grew by 7.81%,
stronger than regional peers but much slower than the national
