Holding St. Paul Accountable
Governor Mark Dayton has presented the state with a proposed budget full of bloated spending projects paid for by increasing job-killing taxes-- extending taxes to clothing and services, for example, which will remove one of the last remaining competitive advantages we have over neighboring states. This budget even prompted Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to appeal to Minnesota business owners to come over the border to enjoy a more supportive climate for the private sector.
As a free market supporter, you clearly understand the negative impacts of government encroaching even further into our everyday lives. Perhaps it is the governor's limited private-sector experience that is leading him to take his liberal, big-spending allies in St. Paul down a road that will harm Minnesota’s business climate for many years to come. Undoubtedly though, legislators will be seeking an even greater expansion of government than the governor has proposed.
In order to push back against these risky schemes, we need your help! We will be meeting every Tuesday at 10:00 am at the Kelly Inn in St. Paul (161 St. Anthony Ave.) to pore over the bills our legislators are introducing. Once we've determined whether the bill would help or hinder our goal of increasing economic freedom for Minnesota, we'll pass our conclusions along to constituents so that, in turn, they can encourage lawmakers to do right by our state's residents.
