AFP Launches “More Than Dayton” Taxes and Spending Education Effort
Legislators Erhardt, Nelson, and Rosenthal Encouraged to End Support of Higher Taxes and More Spending

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota—Americans for Prosperity-Minnesota today announced a comprehensive citizen education effort that includes direct mail, social media and volunteer activity in targeted Minnesota House and Senate districts to highlight lawmakers leading the charge for dramatically higher taxes and increased government spending.

The initial “More Than Dayton” mail pieces focus on specific proposals for higher taxes beyond Gov. Dayton’s own budget outline by House members Ron Erhardt (DFL-Edina), Paul Rosenthal (DFL-Edina) and Senator Carla Nelson (R-Rochester).

Take Action and tell these legislators to stop the tax increases:

Rep. Ron Erhardt

Rep. Paul Rosenthal

Senator Carla Nelson

This week, due to overwhelming opposition and negative attention, the governor scaled back his aggressive and wasteful big-government agenda.  However, Representatives Erhardt and Rosenthal, along with Senator Nelson, have remained committed to raising certain taxes over and above the governor’s targets.

“This education project reminds Minnesotans that even while Gov. Dayton calls for billions in new taxes and spending, legislators in St. Paul are aiming for even more of taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars,” said John Cooney, Minnesota State Director of Americans for Prosperity.

“Gov. Dayton is more than happy to grow the state government at the expense of Minnesota families and businesses, but these legislators are leading the charge to go even further. They are out of synch with Minnesotans who want a limited government that does not grow faster than taxpayers can afford,” said Cooney.

Americans for Prosperity-Minnesota has also launched an Action Center on its website where concerned citizens can send a message to their legislators on these and other important issues. In addition to the specific legislators and proposals highlighted in the direct mail pieces, legislators in St. Paul have introduced dozens of bills that call for spending, tax and fee increases above and beyond Gov. Dayton’s original budget proposal.

“It is important that elected officials in St. Paul are held accountable, and this effort does just that while encouraging citizens to put pressure on their local representative,” commented John Cooney.
