Americans For Prosperity Issues Statement on Gov. Dayton’s Revised Budget Proposal

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota—Americans for Prosperity-Minnesota State Director John Cooney released the following statement in response to Gov. Mark Dayton’s revised Fiscal Year 2014-15 supplemental budget proposal:

“Gov. Dayton’s continued pursuit of higher taxes and more government spending is disappointing and unwelcome news for hard-working Minnesota families and businesses. His proposal of nearly $3 billion in new spending and $2 billion in higher taxes grows the government faster than taxpayers can afford and jeopardizes our fragile economic recovery. This budget unfairly grows the government at the expense of all Minnesotans through higher income, business, property, transportation, tobacco and even the controversial ‘snowbird’ taxes. Overspending is the real threat to Minnesota’s economic prosperity, and we encourage Gov. Dayton and all legislators to focus on policies that grow the economy, not the government.”

Americans for Prosperity-Minnesota encourages citizens to contact the governor and legislators to express their concerns over policies designed to grow the government, raise taxes, increase bureaucratic red tape and threaten economic prosperity.
