Reasonable Health Care Exchange Delay

July 12, 2012

Attorney General Bill Schuette offered some practical reasoning for all Michiganders yesterday on Michigan Radio, have a bit of patience on setting up a state health care exchange:

“We have an election closely upon us, and the U.S. House of Representatives is having a vote tomorrow [Wednesday] to repeal Obamacare. So the fact is there are lots of states and lots of members of Congress that have serious misgivings about the Supreme Court decision,”

Today the House of Representatives did just that, voted to repeal Obamacare (which includes the state exchanges).  This is certainly not an issue which is likely to disappear anytime soon, a little bit of patience until after the fall election could go a long way and save  Michigan taxpayers time and money before rushing to set up the exchanges.  The state exchanges will massively increase the (broken) Medicaid program in Michigan, and put future Michigan taxpayers on the hook for potentially billions of dollars.
