$pending Accountability Project Outcome
The objective of the $pending Accountability Project was to urge Congress to Stop Overspending and Keep the Cuts! That’s why concerned Americans from across Michigan, and many other states, met at seven of their local U.S. Representatives’ offices to let them know that taxpayers demand the $85 billion reduction in spending that we were promised—without raising our taxes.
Dedicated citizen activists met at Congressman Upton’s Office in Kalamazoo. They were concerned that unless we stop the uncapped spending here in America, we will end up like Greece. Also shared was the concern for the amount of debt we are leaving future generations.
Activists also visited Congressman Rogers’ office, as seen in the video below. Frustrations with overspending are shared with millions of Americans across the country.
It seems that the Congressman is not interested in taxpayers’ concerns. He released this letter on Tuesday, February 26. The letter reads like Whitehouse talking points, essentially making the case for increased taxes through threats of “devastating” and “drastic” cuts.
What the Congressman fails to acknowledge, however, is that so-called “cuts” are not cuts at all, but merely responsible and necessary reductions to the rate of growth of federal spending.
An AFP-Michigan activist and constituent from Brighton made this comment in response the her Representative’s email:
“Where does he propose we cut our baseline budget by a little over 2%? Is 2% really that much? Frankly, my taxes have gone up by more 3% this year and no one seems to think that is too much or has been able to muster the resolve to stop it from happening!
“Mike Rogers should tell his communications staff to spare us the rhetoric, and start sharing substantive proposals about WHERE we can cut and HOW we will get our deficit under control. Borrowing 42-cents on every dollar we spend is, I would assert, a very real threat to national security!”
We must continue to hold Congressman Mike Rogers and his colleagues accountable for their irresponsible economic decisions that will greatly impact America’s economic future.
