Lansing Insiders, Not Citizens, Helped Craft Medicaid Substitute
LANSING, Mich.—On the heels of a news conference held by Senator Roger Kahn, who led the Senate Medicaid workgroup, Americans for Prosperity-Michigan issued the following statement on the topic of Medicaid expansion:
“New tracking polls indicate support for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has slipped severely among moderate Democrats. Yet Michigan’s Republican leadership continues to move full-steam ahead on implementing President Obama’s health care law.
“We appreciate that the Senate Medicaid workgroup took the time to study the issue of Medicaid expansion. Unfortunately, it appears that Lansing insiders were more involved in these behind-closed-doors meetings than Michigan citizens. We look forward to numerous public hearings that will give average citizens their chance to speak.
“The reforms contained in the Senate’s substitute Medicaid bill appear to be more of the same—a rush to meet Washington, DC’s deadlines for implementing ObamaCare.”
Americans for Prosperity-Michigan is a statewide organization of more than 87,000 activists committed to strengthening our constitutional government, establishing fiscal restraint, and giving taxpayers greater control over government.
