“Go Home!” Americans for Prosperity-Michigan Urges Lawmakers
LANSING, Mich.—“Go home,” Americans for Prosperity-Michigan urged state lawmakers on the heels of a target budget agreement from legislative leaders. The grassroots group thanked lawmakers for holding off on expanding the broken Medicaid system and avoiding a tax hike.
“We urge swift passage of the budget agreement. Then state lawmakers should go home!” said Scott Hagerstrom, state director of Americans for Prosperity-Michigan. “We want to thank lawmakers for holding off on expanding Medicaid and avoiding a tax hike on Michigan families. Give taxpayers the summer off.”
The group has been a lead opponent of a proposed Medicaid expansion and efforts to raise taxes in order to free up road funding.
“Let’s start the summer on a positive note,” Hagerstrom concluded. “Let Michigan’s small businesses and taxpayers focus their efforts on growing Michigan’s economy without distractions from Lansing.”
