Americans for Prosperity Foundation Discusses School Choice, Celebrates Economist Milton Friedman with Events

Events planned in Brighton, Lansing and Grand Rapids

LANSING, Mich.—Americans for Prosperity Foundation will host three events around the state this Wednesday to discuss school choice and celebrate the 101st birthday of Milton Friedman, one of the greatest economists of the 20th Century. Friedman believed that giving parents and children choices over their education could positively transform state and national economic landscapes. For more information or to register, click here.

“Bringing educational freedom to all children will help grow a skilled workforce for Michigan,” said Greg George, policy associate for Americans for Prosperity Foundation-Michigan. “Dr. Friedman knew that children are the entrepreneurs, job creators and innovators of the future.”

Although Milton Friedman is typically recognized for his contributions to supply side economics, he spent the last decade of his life fighting to bring educational freedom to all of America’s children. In 1996, Friedman and his wife Rose founded the Foundation for Educational Choice to promote his vision for universal school choice—an idea he first proposed in 1955.

“It is a fitting tribute to Dr. Friedman’s legacy to discuss how school choice can positively change our state and nation,” said George. “He believed that education choice was singularly capable of positively transforming our nation.”
