Americans for Prosperity-Michigan’s sister organization, Americans for Prosperity-Michigan Foundation, sent out a questionnaire to all primary candidates that asks for their stance on issues affecting limited government, fiscal responsibility, transparency, and free markets.

  1. Would you vote to and will you work to make Michigan a Right-to-Work state?
  2. Would you vote to and will you work to mandate that 25% of energy production must be from renewables in Michigan by 2025?
  3. Would you vote to and will you work to place in the constitution to require either a 2/3 legislative vote in the House and Senate or a simple majority vote of the people to increase taxes?
  4. Would you vote to and will you work to prohibit legislative efforts to limit collective bargaining rights of public employees?
  5. Would you vote to and will you work to make the Michigan legislature part-time?
  6. Would you vote to and will you work to increase the gas tax?
  7. Would you vote to and will you work to dedicate surplus revenues to a Michigan income tax cut?
  8. Would you vote to and will you work to create more authorities that have the ability to seek property tax increases?
  9. Would you vote to and will you work to make a 100% competitive electric utility marketplace in Michigan?
  10. Would you vote to and will you work to increase competition in the Michigan public school K-12 marketplace?
  11. Would you vote to and will you work to prohibit taxpayer funded lobbying?
  12. Would you vote to and will you work to place the State’s checkbook online in real time and in a searchable database?
  13. Would you vote to and will you work to place government workers’ salaries online?
  14. Would you vote to and will you work to eliminate the prevailing wage in Michigan?
  15. Would you vote to and will you work to have employers require employees to pay dues to a private third party organization in order to keep his or her job?
  16. Would you vote to and will you work to place in the constitution a requirement to allow the people of Michigan to decide whether a new public toll bridge to Canada should be built?
