Miller Mum on Baltimore City Bailout

February 11, 2013

Last week Americans for Prosperity Maryland caught Senate President Mike Miller red handed trying to grab more of your gas tax dollars for pet projects. Within Miller’s gas tax hike proposal is a “carve out” for Baltimore City, allowing local politicians to spend gas tax dollars on school construction instead of repairing roads.

Andy Brownfield of the Washington Examiner covered this story and contacted Miller’s for comment. He did not respond!

This isn’t surprising at all, Senator Miller has condoned the theft of millions of dollars from the Transportation Trust Fund behind the backs of drivers across the state for years. By using gas tax dollars for pet projects, Miller is legalizing what got us into this mess in the first place.

Seventy-three percent of Marylanders oppose Sen. Miller’s gas tax hike and we know he will have to try to sweeten the pot to get votes from legislators who are sitting on the fence.

It’s just shameful that Mike Miller, the President of the Maryland Senate, seems to be buying votes instead putting all of your gas tax dollars towards fixing roads. The only way we can stop the gas tax is to get every Marylander to call and email their elected officials telling them to vote “NO” on any gas tax hike proposal.
