"Marginalized" Maryland Democrat to Retire
Maryland over the last three General Assemblies took a hard turn to the left with the passage of the 80% gas tax hike, the massive increases to State spending, and other liberty crushing policies.
Within the Democratic controlled legislature Delegate Steve DeBoy, a Catonsville Democrat, announced he was retiring after this term with a surprising statement.
“The House of Delegates is going more liberal and I’m a middle of the road, moderate Democrat. “You start to feel you’re being marginalized. You just can’t stop some of this stuff.”
Maryland’s genetic political makeup will drastically change if there are fewer Democrats who are willing to vote against disastrous policies like Governor O’Malley’s 80% gas tax hike. Whip counts for votes will become easier and the path of liberal legislation will become shorter.
Not saying the honorable Delegate is an “angel”, but his votes on these issues are appreciated and more of these votes by Democrats are greatly needed in Maryland.
