House Silences Voters’ Voices with Automatic Gas Tax Hikes
Tying gas tax to inflation won’t require votes to approve increases to the gas tax

The House of Delegates approved of Governor O’Malley’s massive gas tax hike. The proposal will tie the gas tax to inflation which would cause automatic increases to the tax. The Maryland legislature would not be required to approve future increases to the gas tax rate due to inflation. Marylanders will be burdened with never ending increases to the gas tax with just one bill.

“Maryland’s middle class should be furious that their Delegates voted for yearly automatic gas tax hikes and approved a path towards having the highest gas tax rate in the Nation,” said AFP Grassroots Director Nick Loffer. “Leaving Marylanders voiceless and helpless to stop these automatic tax hikes shows how Annapolis has absolutely no care for the economic problems of the middle class.”

Concerned Marylanders can e-mail their elected official at www.Nogastaxmd.com.
