Baltimore City Residents Can't Catch A Break
“The decrease in the property tax rate doesn’t offset the increase in the water rates, so it’s still more money that the citizens are spending,” Joan Pratt – Baltimore City Comptroller
Baltimore City Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake plan to attract 10,000 new families of the already overtaxed city with massive unemployment has already hit a snag. Part of her plan is to reduce the outrageous property tax rate of $2.26 per $1,000 of assessed value. The highest in the State and double of most other Counties.
However increased water bills and the ‘rain tax’ will wipe away the first part of her property tax decrease and could be net increase of taxes residents pay.
Sadly Baltimore City residents can’t catch a break. Of course the revenue from the new Baltimore City Casino will fix everything and we know how that story goes!
