O'Malley Refuses to Abandon Higher Taxes on the Working Class

April 03, 2012

In the ultimate insult to the working class of Maryland the Washington Examiner reported that Governor Martin O’Malley he would be open to increasing the state sales tax to 7% to pay for transportation projects.

Governor O’Malley has encountered fierce opposition to any increase to the gas tax from both Democrats and Republicans, including elected officials for over year.

Any attempts to hoodwink or bait-and-switch Marylanders into bearing another regressive increase to the State sales tax will prove as destructive to working class families’ budgets, create a less business friendly environment, and further hurt our economy.

Governor O’Malley the recession still isn’t over! Marylanders do not have the money to pay for an income tax hike, a flush tax hike, a wind tax, or any type of sales tax hike.

Americans for Prosperity is calling on you to do what is right! Protect all Marylanders from massive tax hikes by actually cutting the budget, not increasing it by a billion dollars like you have proposed this year!

Will it be 2007 all over again!
