Official Rules for the AFP (Maryland Office) Freedom Phone Competition
Rules for Contest: By participating in this Contest, Participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the final decision of the Contest. Decisions by Americans for Prosperity (AFP) are binding and final in every respect.
Eligibility: Americans for Prosperity’s (Maryland Office) Freedom Phone Competition is open to all legal U.S. residents physically residing in Maryland. Participants must be at least the age of majority at the time of participation. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws. Void where prohibited.
To participate in this Contest, Participants must appear at the AFP Maryland office in Hanover, Maryland, obtain a unique personal identifier number (PIN) which will be used to track their phone banking activities, and participate in the phone banking activities. The three phone banking participants who complete the most telephone surveys during the Contest Period, as determined by AFP in its sole discretion, will qualify for a ticket to attend the Defending the American Dream Summit to be held on Thursday August 2 through Saturday August 4, 2012. The prize will consist of one (1) ticket per qualified participant to attend the Summit. The prize does not include transportation to or from the event, hotel stay, or any other expenses related to using or redeeming the prize. A maximum of three (3) prizes will be awarded. The prize is not redeemable for cash.
A Participant is limited to one prize from AFP from this Contest and any other simultaneous AFP Contest. Employees, contractors, subcontractors, agents, board members, and any other individuals otherwise compensated by AFP or any of its affiliates or subsidiaries are not eligible to participate in this AFP Contest. In no event will Sponsors be liable for more prizes than outlined in the Contest Details. Prizes are non-transferable and non-negotiable.
Sponsor is not responsible for any problems, bugs, or malfunctions Participants encounter when participating in the Contest.
Contest Period: The Contest Period begins with the start of the first Phone Bank held on July 31, 2012 in the region and ends when the final Phone Bank closes on August 1, 2012 for the region where the contest is being held.
Publicity: Sponsor reserves the right to use for publicity purposes prior to, during, or after the Contest Period, in any media, the Participant’s name, likeness, and city name throughout the world, in perpetuity, without any compensation or prior review, unless specifically prohibited by law.
Taxes: It is the sole responsibility of the winning Participant to pay all federal, state, and local taxes in connection with the prize.
Limitation of Liability, Governing Law, and Venue: Participant agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Sponsor from any loss, liability, damage, or costs, including court costs and legal fees, which result from the Participant’s involvement and participation in the Contest or Participant’s receipt or use of the prize. In no event shall AFP be liable to Participant for special, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including without limitation, loss of use of profits, regardless of whether such damages are caused or allegedly caused by breach of contract, tort or otherwise (including negligent or willful act or omission, warranty, indemnity, or strict liability). This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia without regard for conflict of laws doctrine. Participants agree that any legal action arising in connection with the Contest, whether in tort, contract, or otherwise, shall be heard exclusively in the courts of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Waiver of Jury: As a condition of participating in this Contest, each Participant hereby irrevocably and perpetually waives any right that Participant may have to a trial by jury in respect of any litigation directly or indirectly arising out of, under, or in connection with the Contest, any document or agreement entered into in connection with the Contest, any prize available through the Contest, and any of the transactions contemplated related to the Contest.
Termination: Sponsor reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel, modify, or suspend the Contest at any time.
