Americans for Prosperity – Maine Hosts Rally for Economic Freedom

May 07, 2013

Augusta – Americans for Prosperity Maine hosted a Rally for Economic Freedom today at the Maine State Capitol Plaza. The event was held to highlight bills before the Legislature that could undermine or diminish economic freedom in the state.

“We were pleased to organize this rally that enabled fellow activists from all over Maine to come together to discuss the path to economic prosperity for our state and how several bills being considered by the Legislature may be taking us in the opposite direction,” said Carol Weston, Americans for Prosperity Maine State Director.

The Rally featured remarks by Scott Moody, CEO, Maine Heritage Policy Center, and Scott Lansley, Maine Taxpayers United as well as Carol Weston, Americans for Prosperity Maine State Director and event host.

“We need policies that create an opportunity society—one that helps people climb the economic ladder toward financial security, not one that pushes folks down that ladder for achieving too much success. Nor one that encourages them to ‘stay qualified for welfare’ instead of striving to move up,” added Weston. “Today we gathered to say to the men and women serving in the Legislature: Protect Our Economic Freedom!”
