The death tax is the unfairest tax of all. You pay taxes your whole life, and when you die the IRS can take half of everything you leave to your children. It’s an unfair double tax and most Louisianans want to see it repealed. At the very least, the tax should be reduced to be less confiscatory. Senator Landrieu no longer has any credibility on the issue of death tax reform. Last year Senator Landrieu voted for a filibuster to block consideration of death tax repeal.
