Conservative Coalition to the House: You Call That Farm Bill Reform?

July 10, 2012 J

Americans for Prosperity joined a coalition of signers today to express strong opposition to the House Agriculture Committee’s discussion draft of the 2012 Farm Bill.

Going under the title of Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management Act of 2012 (FARRM), the discussion draft would extend current food and farm welfare programs for another five years, but does little to cut back on wasteful farm subsidies or the bloated food stamps (SNAP) program.  With the federal government quickly approaching $16 trillion in debt and with spending still growing in Washington, this bill falls far short of the meaningful reforms or spending cuts that American taxpayers are demanding.
