AFP Commends Verizon's Appeal of FCC Net Neutrality Regulation

January 20, 2011 J

AFP VP Phil Kerpen issued the following statement regarding Verizon’s appeal of the FCC’s net neutrality order:

“The Federal Communications Commission ignored the American people, Congress, and the courts in a stunning power grab on December 21, when they ignored a decade of remarkable free-market Internet success to begin regulating the Internet. Verizon deserves credit for standing up to an ideologically-driven commission with close ties to the White House.

“Regardless of what happens in court, Congress should move expeditiously under the Congressional Review Act to vacate the FCC’s net neutrality order and send a clear signal to all federal regulators that power grabs of this sort will not stand.”
