About 50 Kansans were part of the crowd of 2,000 at AFP Foundation's 2009 Defending the American Dream Summit. One of our Kansas attendees, Kimberly Tibbs, has submitted some photos as well as her thoughts on the weekend:

The first day, Oct. 1st, we had a delightful morning full of activity: information gathering, shopping the various booths and countless opportunities to network with other groups. People were excited to be here in Washington, D.C., to let our voices be heard. Hundreds of people milled around striking up conversations with other "Fellow Americans." Strangers did not exist! Even the elevators were chatty with talk of "Where are you from?" and on and on it went. What an exciting time to be here.

2009 Defending the American Dream Summit

AFPF’s 2009 Defending the American Dream Summit was a tremendous success, with more than 2,100 grassroots activists from across the country pouring into Washington, D.C. for two days of grassroots training and networking. We had a great time getting to know some of our Kansas activists, and we’re sorry more AFP-Kansas members weren’t able to come.

TOPEKA, KAN. – The Kansas chapter of the grassroots group Americans for Prosperity commends efforts by Senator Sam Brownback to improve transparency in legislation pending before Congress.

Brownback is a co-sponsor of the 72-Hour Transparency Resolution, which would require all pending Congressional legislation to be posted online and scored by the Congressional Budget Office 72 hours prior to its consideration in a committee or before the full chamber. The rule could be over-ridden in the case of emergency legislation.
