  • Linn County Sheriff Candidate Forum Oct. 4:  Americans for Prosperity-Kansas and the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association of Kansas are co-sponsoring this forum for the 2012 Linn County Sheriff Candidates. We invite you to join us from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4 at Bunker Hill Community Center (6th & Main, Mound City).   • Johnson County Commission Candidate Debate Oct. 8:  Americans for Prosperity-Kansas and a number of other groups are sponsoring a debate for the two open spots on the Johnson County Commission. Four candidates, two for District 3 and two for District 6, will debate at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8 at Blue Valley Baptist Church in Overland Park (8925 W. 151stStreet – the corner of 151st& Antioch). We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to ask questions of those seeking to represent you on the Johnson County Commission, and to make the decisions that impact all taxpayers in Johnson County.   • Wichita Area Chapter Meeting Oct. 8: The Wichita Area Chapter of Americans for Prosperity-Kansas will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8 in the meeting room of Spangles at Kellogg & Broadway (612 S. Broadway). Dave Trabert, President of Kansas Policy Institute, will speak about school funding, student achievement and education reform; Todd Davidson, KPI Fiscal Policy Analyst will present a dynamic analysis of Kansas’ tax reforms. A group discussion and Q&A will follow their presentations. Other Events: Ottawa University is hosting a business symposium, called “Exploring Economic Freedom” on Oct. 25 at the Ottawa campus. The symposium will feature a number of speakers as well as a luncheon. The symposium starts at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 at Fredrikson Chapel of Ottawa University (1001 S. Cedar Street, Ottawa).
