AMERICANS FOR PROSPERITY REACTS TO NEW EPA RULES
“Administration Destroying Jobs for No Clear Environmental Benefit”
TOPEKA – Today Americans for Prosperity, the nation’s largest grassroots advocate for free market energy policies, reacted to new carbon regulations released by the EPA, which calls for a 30 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
A recent report from the US Chamber of Commerce found that the proposed rule will destroy 27,000 jobs in the region and hundreds of thousands of jobs nationally, based on its assumptions on a similar proposal by the Natural Resources Defense Council.
AFP – Kansas State Director Jeff Glendening released the following statement:
“Kansas has long been a state that has relied heavily on fossil fuels. But with new EPA regulations, the freedom to use these fuels will no longer be available. Kansas is the nation’s 10th-largest producer of crude oil and the 12th-largest of natural gas. Coal-power accounts for over 60 percent of our state’s electricity. The EPA is looking to put 224,000 U.S. jobs in jeopardy each year until this new phase of rules is complete. We need to make sure our delegation blocks these proposed rules.”
