Update: Wichita Protest Petition Effort

September 28, 2011 J

Yesterday we announced plans to attempt to overturn part of the incentive package approved by the Wichita City Council for a private development in downtown Wichita.

Many Wichita residents have already responded, ready to join our efforts in fighting the charter ordinance allowing the hotel developers to collect a guest tax from hotel patrons while keeping most of the funds collected for their own use. We appreciate the quick response from so many of you!

We are not allowed to begin collecting signatures on the protest petition until the final publication of the ordinance in The Wichita Eagle on Sept. 30. The petition will be available starting on that day, and we will continue the petition drive for the next 60 days.

In the meantime, any questions about the petition can be directed to infoks@afphq.org. You can also read more about the issue here.
