Kansas Economic Freedom Index
Americans for Prosperity-Kansas has teamed up with the Kansas Policy Institute and Voice for Liberty in Wichita to develop a new scorecard centering on economic freedom in Kansas.
The Kansas Economic Freedom Index is based on 24 House and 20 Senate votes, and a vote in support of individual liberty, limited government and free markets received positive points; a vote opposed to those principles received negative points.
A positive overall score indicates a legislator generally favors economic freedom while a negative score indicates the legislator generally is opposed to individual economic freedom, and favors big government.
We believe this is an important tool for Kansans who want to know if their state representatives follow through with promises to lower taxes, control government spending and protect individual liberties. Kansans want a smaller, more efficient government and they deserve to know how legislators’ actions impact their homes and businesses.
