Senate Minority Leader Anthony Hensley, D-Topeka, said the "witch hunt" was the work of political operatives in league with Gov. Sam Brownback. The goal appears to be political power, he said. (Topeka Capital Journal, 4/09/11)

Todays news that Boeing has decided to close its Wichita operation by the end of 2013 is not only disappointing; its devastating when considering the impact it will have on thousands of Kansas families.
Theres no question the residents of Sedgwick County will sympathize with those who will ultimately lose their job. But hopefully they also take this opportunity to question the wisdom of decisions made by government officials in the past.

This year is being coined a Season of Growth for the dramatic gains that have been made in school choice. And, indeed, it has been, with school choice programs being enacted or expanded in more than a dozen states across the county. But as we celebrate those fruits and those who cultivated them, we also must recognize their original Johnny Appleseed.
Although Dr. Milton Friedman died almost five years ago, his impact on freedom and specifically school choice continues to be recognized by freedom-loving people both in the United States and around the world.

The arts have thrived for centuries and the industry wont just disappear if the Kansas Arts Commission goes through a structural change. With or without the KAC, Kansas has a flourishing arts community.
AFP-Kansas hopes Gov. Brownback vetoes the KAC funding because no one should be compelled to have part of their tax bill fund the tastes of those on an arts commission.
Art is in the eye of the beholder. Some may enjoy Picasso or listening to Beethoven. Others may prefer a Dogs Playing Poker painting.

Just a quick note on this Monday morning of the final week of the legislative session in which the House and Senate still appear to be far apart in coming to an agreement on the Fiscal Year 2012 budget.
