Rep. Paul Ryan and Senator Patty Murray are working toward a budget deal that could be announced as soon as tomorrow. It would represent the first time in several years that a real budget agreement was struck.
If it sounds too good to be true, it is. We’re hearing the deal would undo the modest spending cuts that conservatives fought for and Congress agreed to implement last year. If Congress can’t keep cuts of 3 cents on the dollar in place, what hope is there to reform entitlements and solve our long-term budget crisis?
Fortunately, we believe we can convince Kansas Representatives Lynn Jenkins, a member of the House leadership, and Kevin Yoder, who sits on the appropriations committee, to oppose this terrible deal. Based on their record, they should recognize that it’s time for Congress to stop making empty promises and get spending under control. Let Reps. Jenkins and Yoder know that Kansans have their back – we want Congress to stick to the spending cuts it agreed to in 2011.
After you email, call their local offices to reinforce the message. You can reach Rep. Jenkins at 785-234-5966 and Rep. Yoder at 913-621-0832.
Please email us at email@example.com to let us know when you’ve made the call. Thank you for working to make sure politicians will not go back on their promises!
