WISH TV 8 - AFP Opposes Mass Transit Tax
From WISH TV 8 coverage on Wednesday, August 14
Chase Downham does not count himself among the supporters. He’s the Indiana Director of the Americans for Prosperity organization. AFP monitors taxation and spending issues. He said he expects changes in the local mass transit system.
But, he would like to see other options discussed before central Indiana commits to an investment in something that might lead to the addition of light rail service.
“When folks pursue expansion of mass transit — particularly those coupled with light rail — they often go over budget. In fact, on average, they go about 40 percent over budget. The solution is not to spend more money,” Downham said. “The solution is not to raise taxes.”
