Last Friday, Americans for Prosperity’s Cut Spending Now tour made a stop in Evansville, Indiana. The purpose of the meeting was to highlight the runaway federal government spending that has plunged our country into record levels of debt. Already our nation borrows nearly 40 cents of every dollar it spends!

This is a nonpartisan crisis facing all citizens. As the congressional “super committee” deliberates their course of action, it is more important than ever that we get this right. Our country cannot endure more of the status quo. We need a bold solution that bravely takes this challenge head-on.

This is exactly why Americans for Prosperity has laid out a series of proposals that if enacted would eliminate over $5 trillion in unnecessary and wasteful government spending. This would certainly reduce the size of the federal government and eliminate the waste and bloat that taxpayers have funded for decades. The proposal can be summarized in these four points.

* Close Wasteful Federal Departments
* Force Washington to Tighten Its Belt
* Eliminate the Government’s Ability to Pick Winners and Losers
* Empower States and Individuals

What can you do as a citizen? Sign our Cut Spending Now petition and send a clear message to Washington that enough is enough.
