AFP - Indiana Update
Hope everyone is doing well. There are just a few updates on the AFP-Indiana front.
Yesterday marked the start of National School Choice Week. In coordination with other school choice advocates, Americans for Prosperity Foundation will be holding a number of events across the country to renew American Exceptionalism in education. Here in Indiana we will be holding events in Richmond and Evansville later this week. A full list of our events can be found at www.putkidsfirst.com
AFP – Indiana today announced our support for HB 1006, a bill to eliminate government regulation of certain occupational licenses including that of cosmetologists. The bill drew quite a bit of opposition from cosmetologists across the state. While do not oppose industry self-regulated licenses, we do oppose the governments role in mandating this and other licenses as described in HB 1006. Our release on the issue can be found here http://www.americansforprosperity.org/012312-americans-prosperity-indiana-supports-bill-remove-needless-government-regulation. John Stossel has a great article on this issue as well. http://reason.org/news/show/the-cancer-of-government-regulation
Lastly, as you all know, Indiana is currently debating whether or not to pass a RTW law. To support this effort, AFP-Indiana has asked our members to send emails, make phone calls and write letters to their state legislators. In addition, we have mailed targeted legislative districts to highlight the importance of Right to Work. Hopefully, we will see some progress this week on this important issue. If you have not already, please contact your legislator by visiting our action alert page -http://www.americansforprosperity.org/010912-right-work-right-indiana
Thats all. Hope everyone has a great and prosperous week!

State Director
