On July 7, 2009 over 300 activists attended a town hall event to discuss the damaging affects of policy initiatives such as Cap-and-Trade, Government controlled Health Care and the Employee Free-Choice Act. AFP-IL and the Kankakee Chamber of Commerce hosted the event. The featured speaker was Fox News political pundit and analyst William Kristol.

Other featured speakers were:
Kankakee Regional Chamber President David Hinderliter, Environmental attorney Gary Baise, and Americans for Prosperity Policy Director Phil Kerpen.

On Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Holiday Inn O'Hare in Chicago, IL, AFP-IL hosted a RighOnline seminar for over 100 Illinois based bloggers. The Wall Street Journal's Steve Moore, Taxpayer Activist Joe the Plumber, RightOnline's Erik Telford, Illinois Review's Fran Eaton, WIND Chicago's Guy Benson, and Sam Adams Alliance's Emily Zanotti, were featured speakers during the full day of cutting edge training in online activism.

On June 15, 2009 Americans for Prosperity hosted it’s 3rd annual donor luncheon at the Chicago Club. This years guest speaker was Dr. Art Laffer past member of President Reagan’s Economic Policy Advisory Board for both of his two terms (1981-1989).

During the event AFP-IL state director presented Illinois House Representative Mike Tryon (R-Crystal Lake) with AFP’s Sunshine Award, in recognition of his commitment to open and accountable government and his tireless efforts in helping pass the Illinois Transparency and Accountability Portal (HB 35).

As a voter and member of Americans for Prosperity, I ask our Illinois state representative and senators to vote NO on any and all tax increase proposals presented to the Illinois General Assembly for fiscal year 2010. This could not be a worse time to raise our taxes.
