SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois chapter of Americans for Prosperity (AFP), along with State Rep. Mike Tryon and three other citizen organizations, today called for Senate President Emil Jones to schedule budget transparency legislation for an immediate up-or-down vote.

SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois chapter of Americans for Prosperity (AFP) will be joined by Rep. Mike Tryon and several other citizen organizations on Thursday to unveil an AFP-led coalition letter and rally support for Rep. Tryon's legislation that would bring greater transparency to the state budget process. House Bill 4765, which is now in its third reading, would create an online, searchable database of state spending that would essentially allow citizens to "Google" their tax dollars. The legislation takes its inspiration from a successful bill on the federal level sponsored by Sen. Tom Coburn (Okla.) and Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) that created the website USAspending.gov .

SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois chapter of Americans for Prosperity (AFP-IL) applauds Reps. Mike Tryon (R-Crystal Lake) and Jack Franks (D-Woodstock) for their introduction of House Bill 4765. This legislation that would require the Department of Central Management Services to create the Illinois Accountability Portal providing taxpayers with online access to information detailing state expenditures, tax credits, state employee salaries, state contracts and other important information.

CHICAGO- On the heels of their statewide transparency project, promoting an online database that brings greater transparency to county governments and their grassroots support for transparency in state government (HB 4765), the Illinois Chapter of Americans for Prosperity unveiled a new weblog designed to fight government waste, fraud and abuse. "The Pork Report", which can be found at www.porkreport.org, is a weblog edited by members of the AFP team in Illinois and will feature regular guest posts from grassroots activists across the state.
