Obama Protest Offers Gasoline At 2009 Prices

October 5, 2012 2:04 PM
LOMBARD (CBS) — There was quite a deal to be had at a gasoline station in Lombard earlier today, and it was all part of a protest against President Obama’s energy policies.

At the Road Ranger gas station in Lombard, regular unleaded gasoline typically sells from about $3.70 a gallon.

For a while today, it was $1.88—the price when Obama took office in 2009.

“It’s part of our Obama’s Failing Agenda Tour,” said tour director Dave From.

The advocacy group Americans For Prosperity has been holding similar events across the county, offering to pump gasoline at 2009 prices, typically for a few hundred customers.

He said the president is standing in the way of new oil drilling.

Some customers were not even thinking about that.

“I am here because it’s $1.88,” said one customer. “I am not against the president’s policies.”

Another customer, when asked if he opposed the president’s policies admitted he didn’t follow the news.

But he did follow up on a good deal.
