RELEASE: Preckwinkle Should Apologize for Outrageous Reagan Comments

August 22, 2012

Cook Co. Bd. Pres. says IL hero deserves a “special place in hell”

NAPERVILLE- Americans for Prosperity- Illinois State Director David From this afternoon called on Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle to apologize and retract her insensitive and outrageous comments today declaring that former President Ronald Reagan deserves “a special place in hell”.

From the Chicago Tribune (trib.in/RAasNi) (8/21/12):

(Preckwinkle) said Reagan deserves a “special place in hell” for his involvement in “making drug use political.”

“What? You didn’t like that?” Preckwinkle said after members of the audience gasped.

“President Preckwinkle’s comments about a favorite son of Illinois are beyond bad taste,” said From.  “Her comments about President Reagan’s eternal disposition are wildly disrespectful and inappropriate, bordering on inflammatory.  She should immediately retract her irresponsible statement and apologize for wishing eternal damnation on an American hero.”
