Friedman Day 2013
The Library: 190 S. LaSalle Street, Chicago, IL 60603
More than 50 years after Professor Milton Friedman suggested the use of school vouchers in “Capitalism and Freedom,” Illinois’ neighbors to the north and east have implemented them and improved opportunities for students. In 2010 Illinois came very close to passing a voucher program that would have given those in Chicago’s worst schools an opportunity to get a first-class education.
Please join us to celebrate Milton Friedman’s 101st birthday by highlighting one of his major priorities – school choice. The Illinois Policy Institute and Americans for Prosperity Foundation Illinois will honor his impact on education reform by discussing where education reform is headed in the state. The past three years have been banner years for education reform, and Josh Dwyer, the Institute’s director of education reform, will talk about what that means for Illinois.
