ADVISORY: AFP Rallies Today in Atlanta Against EPA Rule

July 29, 2014

President Tim Phillips joins activists, coalition partners for press conference to launch GA Energy Freedom Alliance.

ATLANTA — The Georgia chapter of Americans for Prosperity will gather for a rally and press conference in opposition to the new proposed EPA rules on greenhouse gases. AFP President Tim Phillips will be in attendance along with a diverse group of coalition partners.

DETAILS: Outside the Sam Nunn Atlanta Federal Building (on the Alabama Street side of the building), 61 Forsyth Street SW in Atlanta, at 12 Noon.

“President Obama’s EPA is waging a war on traditional affordable energy through burdensome regulations and unrealistic mandates. It’s time for the American people to stand up to this federal overreach, and send a message that they cannot afford to pay for Obama’s environmental ideology,” said Tim Phillips.

BACKGROUND: In early June, the Obama administration announced the latest in its ideology-driven attack on traditional energy production — a new EPA rule to cut carbon-dioxide emissions from coal- and gas-fired power plants across the United States. This proposed rule mandates a reduction of 30 percent of the greenhouse gas emissions from the nation’s power plants by 2030, based on 2005 emissions levels.
