Tom Price Named To Budget Negotiation Committee - Oct 17
In addition to funding the government and preventing default (at least for a little while), the legislation last night requires a House-Senate conference committee to negotiate a budget agreement by mid-December. House Speaker John Boehner announced his four representatives on the committee shortly after the House voted to approve the measure.
Notable on that list is Georgia’s sixth district congressman Tom Price, who serves on both the Budget and Ways & Means committees. Other committee members include Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, Tom Cole of Oklahoma and Rep. Diane Black of Tennessee. Price and Black are both members of the House Tea Party caucus.
From the Speaker’s announcement:
There’s no higher priority than strengthening our economy for middle-class families and small businesses,” said Speaker Boehner. “Our negotiating team will pursue real reforms that address the drivers of our debt, get control of spending and put us on a path to a balanced budget, and expand opportunity for all Americans. Americans young and old are struggling under the president’s policies – including his disaster of a health care law – and these negotiations are a big opportunity to start building a stronger economy and a brighter future.
