Monday Three: 3 Topics For Economic Freedom Champions
1. Companies use First Lady’s “Let’s Move” campaign for White House Access – Cronyism is one of the few issues that angers people of all political and philosophical persuasions. If you find yourself trying to connect with people who are not completely ideologically aligned, use stories like this to get things started. A recent story in The Hill reports that many companies are using the First Lady’s “Let’s Move” campaign to buy their way into better access to the White House for other issues that can help their bottom line.
2. SPN Awards Grassroots Hero – I was at the State Policy Network’s annual meeting this week, and the most impressive and genuine moment for me was when Jennifer Parrish of Minnesota was awarded the Unsung Hero Award. Jennifer is just a business owner who decided not to stand by while big unions tried to rig the system to extract dues. Next time you have an activist ask if an average person can make a difference, tell them about Jennifer.
3. Record Number Of Americans Now Think The Government Is Too Powerful – Gallop has released their updated Governance survey and it finds that 6 in 10 Americans now believe the government is too powerful. I find it particularly interesting that Republicans began trending upward on this in 2006, while democrats magically stopped being concerned after the 2008 election.
