IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Protest Rally Against Big Government & IRS Scandal Tuesday At Capitol

May 20, 2013

ATLANTA – Americans For Prosperity-GA is joining a large coalition of Georgia grassroots activists in co-hosting a “Protest Against IRS Scandal & Rally Against Big Government” on the steps of the State Capitol at 11:30am today (Tue, May 21).

The IRS scandal targeting conservative grassroots groups shows the dangers of big government run amuck. In Georgia, tea party groups have also been targeted for their legitimate coalition activities with AFP GA. The Obama Administration’s ongoing attacks against Americans For Prosperity activists are uncalled for and concern every American. Now, President Obama’s appointment of Sarah Hall Ingram – the very same woman responsible for overseeing the tax exempt arm of the IRS during the scandals – to serve as head of the IRS’ Affordable Care Act division, underscores the Obama Administration’s betrayal of the trust of the American People and signals even greater concern.

AFP GA Communications Director, Joel Aaron, says, “The IRS targeting of conservative groups represents an attack on the heart and soul of the American grassroots. A big government willing to turn its apparatus on everyday Americans, for political reasons, while at the same time denying knowledge of its own activities, runs against the spirit of limited government that Americans For Prosperity supports and it cannot be tolerated in the Court of Public Opinion.”
