On behalf of more 55,000 Americans for Prosperity activists in Georgia, I appreciate the opportunity to testify on HB 900, legislation designed to provide sales tax relief by broadening the existing manufacturing sales tax exemption to include consumable supplies.
At a time when the national labor participation rate has hit a 35 year low, and the number of long-term unemployed and “involuntary part time workers” has risen to more than 11 million, tax relief across the board – particularly for job creators – is badly needed.
AFP believes that the most effective and efficient way to expand opportunities and boost job growth is broad-based tax and regulatory reform, and we believe HB 900 is a step toward accomplishing this goal.
We hope that in the coming years, proposals like HB 900 will help to grow the economy and, and pave the way for more wide ranging tax reforms that will provide sales tax relief beyond just the manufacturing sector – easing the burden on all businesses and families.
Thank you for the opportunity to testify, and we look forward to working with the committee on this and other proposals to reduce taxes on all Georgia businesses and families.
