Taxpayers to New Britain Mayor: Meet with Us, Don't Hike Taxes
Americans for Prosperity to Propose Alternatives to Raising Taxes on New Britain Residents
HARTFORD, CT – Americans for Prosperity – Connecticut, the Nutmeg state’s leading advocate for lower taxes and fiscal responsibility, today asked New Britain Mayor Tim O’Brien to halt plans to raise taxes on the town’s residents and instead meet with local taxpayers led by AFP-CT state director JR Romano. The Mayor and Common Council is planning to meet tomorrow to rush through a tax increase on residents of New Britain.
“We are asking Mayor O’Brien to slow down and give all parties, including taxpayers, the opportunity to participate in discussion about how the city meets its budget,” explained JR Romano, Connecticut state director of Americans for Prosperity. “New Britain’s Common Council and Mayor should not raise taxes in a secret, last minute meeting four days before Christmas–especially not before meeting with the hardworking residents of the town who will be hit by this last minute tax hike.”
JR Romano is available for interview to discuss AFP’s grassroot strategy to put pressure on the Mayor and Common Council to not raise taxes. He can be reached at 203-800-6586 or by emailing JRomano@afphq.org.
