Americans for Prosperity Connecticut: State Cannot Borrow Its Way Into the Black

November 01, 2013

HARTFORD – Americans for Prosperity – Connecticut is commenting today on the announcement that rather than utilize the emergency credit line set up last winter to pay state bills, the state has borrowed $900 million to postpone two of its debts until after the next gubernatorial election.

“Beyond the political convenience regarding the timing of this decision, we continue to believe that Governor Malloy and members of the legislature need to directly address the state’s fiscal problems and offer solutions that will serve the interests of all taxpayers rather than just transferring one problem to another,” said JR Romano, State Director of Americans for Prosperity Connecticut.  “We cannot borrow our way back into the black.  Connecticut families who have had to cut back know this and they should expect nothing less from the people they elect to be stewards of their taxpayer dollars.”
