What would you do with $14 million?

April 24, 2013

What would you do with $14 Million?

If you’re the federal government, you would spend it on catfish inspections.

That’s right – catfish inspections!

You may remember the bloated and bureaucratic farm bill that contained funding for food stamps and corporate welfare spending. What you may not know is that also contained within the bill was $14 Million for duplicative catfish inspections.

Apparently the amendment to inspect the catfish was as slippery as the catfish themselves. Despite efforts by some legislators to remove the catfish inspection amendment, it was included in the bill. This would all be laughable and ridiculous if it weren’t so real and typical.

This is exactly the kind of unnecessary and out-of-control spending that must be eliminated.

Your tax dollars are paying for it!

If you are sick and tired of business as usual in Washington and Hartford that leaves you holding the bag (or in this case the fishing net) for this kind of fiscal irresponsibility, I urge you to sign our I’m a Resident, Not a Revenue Source petition today!

If we want public policy to change, we must change the way the government views us.

Please feel free to also forward our petition to your family and friends and urge them to join our efforts to get our state and our nation back on the path to economic prosperity!
