Town by town...
As you may know, we had our first meeting of the Shoreline East Chapter in New London County on July 24th, at the Waterford Library. We were pleased with the core turnout of dedicated folks and believe we have the ability to initiate action from our New London County members to influence local town and city legislation.
To do this we will need a Town/City representative from each town/city in New London County. The representative’s task will be to monitor what’s happening in his or her Town/City on fiscal and tax issues. To bring an issue that warrants the mustering of support from AFP members, contact Bud, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or provide a verbal report at our next meeting which will be held on September 30, at Waterford Library.
Please go to americansforprosperity.org, click on CT.; and you will see an “events” area, where we have posted this message, with instructions for your response.
The list of towns and cities includes: Groton Town, Norwich, New London, Montville, Waterford, East Lyme, Stonington, Colchester, Ledyard, Griswold, Groton City, Old Lyme, Lebanon, North Stonington, Preston, Lisbon, Salem, Jewett City, Sprague, Bozrah, Voluntown, Lyme, and Franklin.
We all have full lives, but with CT in close to the worst shape of any state, we need “activists” willing to do a little work, so that we can act, with a focused plan, to assist each town in NL County to reach the right decisions.
OUR STATE RANKS LAST OR NEAR LAST AMONG THE STATES IN TOO MANY CATEGORIES, INCLUDING: WORST IN MANAGEMENT, IN BUSINESS-FRIENDLY POLICIES, IN INFRASTRUCTURE/ROAD CONDITIONS, IN FISCAL HEALTH, and IN HIGH DEBT LOAD. WE ALSO ARE THE ONLY STATE IN THE UNION THAT LOST POPULATION LAST YEAR.
We’ve asked each member who attended our inaugural meeting to bring one person with them to our next meeting. If someone asks you to go to the 9/30 meeting, you bring someone with you. Your guests don’t have to be AFP members, and we aren’t interested in their party affiliation. Our goal is to provide information and guidance, so people will understand that only by educating themselves will they recognize the threats to their family’s future.
Please try and make the September 30 meeting. The more “activists” we have, the more we can accomplish. Town by town, we can start to turn CT around!
