Tax Freedom Day Shows Up Late

April 10, 2013

According to a report from the Tax Foundation, our state has the latest tax freedom day in the country – May 13! That is 5 days later than last year.

That means you have to work 5 more days this year to pay off your taxes and start earning your take-home pay.

If you agree this is unacceptable, I urge you to join us in our efforts to curtail the out-of-control spending and taxation.

Sign and disseminate the “I’m a Resident, Not a Revenue Source” petition or send your elected officials an e-card telling them to stop overspending.

Unfortunately, the out-of-control spending habits are not just occurring at the state and federal levels, but at the local level as well. As you may know, the renovation for Maloney high school in Meriden is $9M over budget due in part to a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) mandated by the Mayor on the project. You can read more about it HERE.

I encourage you to reach out to Mayor Michael Rohde and let him know that this project needs to stay within its budget. If CT families and businesses can stay within a budget and even cut back when needed, so can this project.

CLICK HERE to contact Mayor Rohde.

The time to stop overspending at all levels of government is NOW. We need to work together to hold ourelected officials accountable. Let them know today by signing our petition or sending an e-card today.

Thank you for all you do for economic freedom.
