a core group
After only two meetings we are proud to report that we have a core group of around thirty people who’ve attended the meetings. At our first meeting we discussed the value of the growing numbers of AFP members in CT which will allow us to muster significant e-mail and phone contacts to Legislators.
One of those present asked us to look into how we might bring that “member muscle” to bear on local issues.
Living in a primarily Democratic State we conservatives represent about 22% of the voters, with 35/37% Independents unaffiliated, libertarian, or green party, and 40/43% Democratic.
As we seek ways to work together on policies rather than politics, AFP has some great tools for members to use including a new telephone system that makes calling a lot easier. If you would like to learn how to use the “Telephone System”, just email firstname.lastname@example.org so we can schedule the right size room for the training.
If the telephone system is not for you, please consider come of the other ways to be an “active” member. This doesn’t take a lot of time or energy; you should “read” our emails. Certainly with the financial mess we’re in State and Federal, you have some opinions we’d like to hear. Attend our meetings. If there’s a way you can give some time, you can decide how you want to participate.
Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday November 4th at 7-9 pm Waterford Library. Please plan to attend and bring a friend or neighbor.
In addition, in order to address local city/town issues, we need an “activist” in each town to monitor what’s going on, and if there’s an issue we should address, get the information to us. If you would be willing to serve in this role for your town, please let us know.
Thank you for all you do to promote economic freedom. We look forward to continuing to work with you.
