Zvonek: Flap Over State Logo Misses the Point
Americans for Prosperity-Colorado State Director Dustin Zvonek issued the following statement today in response to the continuing debate over whether Colorado should adopt a controversial new state logo.
“As we’ve said before, rebranding Colorado with an unnecessary and expensive new logo is no substitute for consistently adopting tax and regulatory policies that are really going to set the state apart in terms of growing or attracting companies. And it’s on those issues we often seem to be taking the wrong path, by proposing massive tax hikes at a time when other states are lowering and flattening rates, and entertaining extreme proposals that make job-creating businesses feel unwelcome and unappreciated. A new logo doesn’t make any difference if we don’t get those more mundane issues right by putting first things first. This is why AFP will soon be unveiling a multi-issue business climate initiative called Keep Colorado Competitive, which is predicated on the idea that Colorado’s options will always be more limited than we’d like unless we get the economic policies right by avoiding distractions, like the logo debate, and putting more focus on fixing the state’s fiscal and economic fundamentals.”
