Let's Put Victim's Families First

July 20, 2012

DENVER, CO – Americans for Prosperity-Colorado State Director Jeff Crank issued the following statement on the heartbreaking Colorado movie theater shooting today:

“On behalf of the citizens of Colorado and AFP-Colorado members, I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of the horrific and tragic shooting in Aurora today. My prayers go out to them during this time of grief and sadness. Colorado has had more than its share of tragedy this summer and as a native Coloradan, my heart breaks for all the victims and their families.

“I am shocked and disgusted by the knee-jerk reaction of ABC reporters Brian Ross and George Stephanopoulos suggesting the Tea Party might be connected to the mass shootings. Their haphazard reporting is not only shameful but a clear lack of journalistic ethics and standards. Tragedy after tragedy seems to be exploited for political gain by some.

“Instead of focusing on the victims and families of this senseless tragedy, they are politicizing an issue in promotion of their own personal political beliefs. Simply put, ABC crossed the line. This is just another example of the mainstream media’s liberal bias. I pray the shooter will be brought to justice and that we join together as Americans to overcome this tragedy and comfort those who lost those they hold most dear.”
